It was great — as always — to visit with our customers and make new gift industry friends at this summer’s Atlanta show. Our 20,000-square-foot showroom was vibrant and dressed up with more than 5,000 products on display for buyers looking for fresh ideas and styles.
It was exciting hear what retailers were buzzing about and receive feedback on our newest gifts, included additions to the ByDesign Serving Collection, Sharon Nowlan’s latest artwork, featuring sea glass-colored shades of blue and green, the expanded Giving Bear line, fashion items such as the Your Journey Collection and Giving Shawl, and Willow Tree’s latest group of pet sculptures.
However, one of the most notable updates we unveiled at America’s Mart this July didn’t feature any product at all. The warm and welcoming Lift the Spirit Room was designed as a relaxing place to rest one’s feet during a busy day of crowds and activity. This comfort area is a dedicated space adjacent to our showroom, where everyone is welcome sit down, get something to drink and have a moment of respite — one way that we try to Lift the Spirits of those at The Mart.
Among feedback we received, some said it was spa-like. Soothing light and peaceful quiet, comfortable benches, tables and countertops in wormwood tones and textures with soft toss pillows. In addition, we provide areas to charge phones and devices, cool refreshments and snacks, and inspirational artwork create a unique environment in sharp contrast with the hustle and bustle of a busy show day. Another way it’s meant to feel like a break from the day is that no DEMDACO product is displayed in the Lift the Spirit Room — a total break from buying, selling, browsing, chatting and walking.
We also introduced our DEMDACO Crossroads area by the sixth-floor elevators – another special location where attendees can sit and congregate, and also where a number of hospitality events take place throughout show season.
Shows are a great chance to visit with old and new friends, and friends we haven’t met yet. Creating comfortable places for people to convene is part of our larger aim to make everyone’s day a little better. It also represents our belief that business is not merely a financial endeavor, but first-and-foremost a human endeavor.
