Choosing the best blog template for your business is not as daunting as you might think!
No matter what you're selling or how your website is setup, a clean and eye-catching blog page should always include four main aspects:
- Visually enticing
- User-friendly
- Organized
- Functional on all digital platforms
What you need to know:
1. Visually Enticing
There are many websites on the internet with great posts and informative content. So, how do you make sure yours stands out at a quick glance (because let's be honest: people do judge books by their covers... or blogs by their cover photos)? Choose something that has a lot of imagery!
A template that has beautiful photos is more likely to catch the reader's eye and make them click on the content than a layout that's just titles and paragraphs. Which leads us to #2...
2. User-Friendly
If your blog page has a lot of imagery with a clean layout, chances are it will be more user-friendly! Why? Because everything will be mapped out with specific places to click. They'll easily be able to see the category options, decipher post from post and explore anywhere else on your site. You may have a typical demographic that's more likely to visit your website, but you should always make sure the 'usability' of your site is pleasant (fast) and simple (!) for everyone.
3. Organized
The more organized your blog page is, the easier it will be for viewers to engage in your content. If you just have a whole bunch of articles floating around, readers will click 'X' because they can't efficiently or thoughtfully find what they're looking for. Find or create a template that has a categories tab (see image below). This way they can quickly view their options and go back and forth between subjects with ease.
4. Functional On All Digital Platforms
There is no way to predict what device a shopper will view your website from. Always make sure your blog layout looks and works correctly on any electronic device, such as a mobile phone, tablet or computer. Sometimes one aspect of a template will look great on a computer, but it gets cutoff on a phone or makes the website move too slow. Avoiding any mishaps upfront makes the customer trust you even more and keeps your site extra professional!
Just remember, blogs are a fun, informal way of communicating with your customers. When designing your template, think of what would be best for them and your blog will look and work beautifully!
